So what is wellness? According to the World Health Organization (WHO), WELLBEING is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. In other words, wellness is an alternative outlook on life at all levels, because wellness is the interaction of our physical and mental health. And here we should emphasize that reaching and experiencing wellness daily requires personal work.
So in summary the pillars of wellness are:
- Physical health - Exercise, good and quality sleep, proper nutrition (nutrition that floods you with energy – (plant-based, vegetarian diet), and not deprives you of it – (processed food, fast food).
- Mental health - Recognizing and accepting emotions and not suppressing them. After all, we are our thoughts, which produce emotions and follow corresponding behaviors. Find help, talk to a mental health professional. Mental health is just as important as physical health.
Daily practices like meditation and mindfulness improve and relax our nervous system. They help us manage our daily lives more calmly and stand firmer on our feet, in other words strengthening our mental resilience.
- Social health- Investing in quality relationships, healthy boundaries and personal time.
- Personal development. Goals and dedication to achieving them. Self-expression through creative activities.
- We create a daily routine with a schedule that will include work, family, and any other obligations we have without depriving ourselves of personal time-relaxation. We should follow this routine faithfully.
- We learn to observe our priorities and make wise choices. We try to identify what really matters and focus on them. We let go of unnecessary commitments that may be draining us of vital energy.
Wellness in the multidimensional everyday life is not a luxury, but a necessity. Through small but essential changes, we can find the balance we need, fill ourselves with energy and enjoy our lives. Remember: wellness is not a final destination, but a continuous process that leads us to a fuller, happier life.
