Cherry
There are two types of cherries and they are divided into dozens of varieties. The first type is the sweet cherry (Prunus avium) and the second is the sour cherry (Prunus cerasus) also known as sour cherry.

The origin of the fruit remains unknown. However, the ancient Greeks believed that it came from Asia Minor and more specifically from Kerasunda. The Roman general Lucullus discovered them and brought them to Italy.
